Q: Is WTTS (Weeyee telephone translation system) a machine translation system?
A: No. Technically speaking, the machine telephone translation is still on the early stage of development. WTTS is a system to facilitate the client to get real-time telephone translation service by a real person. Currently, the number of registered telephone interpreters of Weeyee has reached several hundred. The Weeyee interpreter pool (WIP) has a world-wide geographic coverage throughout all the 24 time zones, providing both-way translation between Mandarin and tens of foreign languages.

Q: Is WTTS a system based on certain network telephone system? Should I purchase any specialized telephone equipment?
A: No. WTTS applies the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN ) system, which is of a higher voice quality that the network telephone system cannot reach, so your business requirements for a telephone translation will be well served. You do not have to buy any special telephone equipment in order to enjoy our service. A traditional direct line telephone, a mobile phone or a PHS (personal handy phone system) is all you need to receive callings from WTTS center.

Q: I cannot properly view the “Video Demo” and WTTS’s telephone translation operation interface. What is the problem?
A: You may have to download the Adobe Flash 9 insert to ensure a proper run of Weeyee website. For browsers without the latest version of the insert, you can click here to download and install it.

Q: How about the safety of the three-way telephone conversation?
A: The only deficiency of the human-based telephone translation compared to machine translation is that the interpreter will catch the content of your business telephone conversation. Our suggestion is that please do not leak any content you may think it is confidential during a Weeyee three-way telephone conversation. You do not have the necessity and will not get the interpreter’s telephone number unless you ask the interpreter during the telephone conversation. On the other hand, the interpreter will not get the telephone number information both of you and the other party even if the interpreter’s telephone has the function of incoming call display.

Q: Is it necessary to operate WTTS via a browser?
A: Yes, it is currently true. Weeyee team has created a customerized operation interface for the telephone translation, which gives you the possibility to check the ongoing status of telephone meeting and to dial or hang up each of the lines in a telephone meeting. If your computer suffers certain accident, for example your browser has been forced to close, the telephone meeting will not be interrupted. The meeting will be terminated automatically when you hang up your phone.

Q: How to get a clear picture about the professional level of a telephone interpreter?
A: You can view the interpreter’s resume to check his or her educational background and working experiences. You can communicate with the interpreter to ensure his or her capability via WTTS before starting a three-way meeting. Weeyee has established a Client Satisfaction Rating System (CSRS). You may score the interpreter who has provided service for you as well as inquire the score of the interpreter who will provide the service.

Q: What should I do if I cannot create a connection with the designated interpreter?
A: Seldom interpreters will be available for a 24 (hours) * 7 (days) service. Each interpreter has indicated the daily time span during which he or she is available via the Weeyee platform. Names of the interpreters will not be showed on the site if the current time is beyond his/her daily time span. However, there will some other cases which will prevent the interpreter to deliver the service during his/her time span, for example, his/her telephone line is occupied, or he/she is temporarily away from the telephone, or interpreter’s mobile phone cannot be reached. Our suggestion is that you may choose more than one interpreters for one time and add these interpreters to your Qualified Interpreter List. The WTTS will try to connect with the listed interpreters in sequence until there is one line connected.

Q: How does Weeyee charge for the telephone translation service?
A: The charge of Weeyee telephone translation is composed of phone rates and translation fee. Calculation of the phone rates is based on the telephone lines involved in a meeting that is initialized by a Weeyee user. Each line will be charged to compose a subsection of the total rates. Please read the telephone rate list for detailed rate information. As Weeyee operates as a call center for providing the telephone translation service, Weeyee will charge the phone rates from the users for the telecommunication company. There will be no double charges. If a mobile phone(s) has (have) been involved in the telephone meeting, there may be additional fee charged for the incoming calls by the telecom operator based on its client service agreement.
  Translation fee is defined by the interpreter, ranging for RMB0/minute to RMB10/minute. The translation fee will be charged when you get access to the third party by the calling. An ipreter with a heart-shaped markvolunteer before his/her username indicates that he/she is a volunteer of Weeyee. There will be no translation fee charged by a Weeyee volunteer. Each interpreter will be initially regarded as a Weeyeee volunteer when they register. They will become a payable interpreter until they have received certain client satisfaction rate.
  The telephone translation user must deposit a certain amount of money in advance in his/her account via a guaranteed online payment system. WTTS will calculate the service time automatically and deduct the fee accurately from the user’s account. The charging process will be terminated when the user hangs up the telephone or ends the meeting manually via Weeyee operation interface.

Q: Is online payment system reliable?
A: Currently Weeyee has chosen QuickMoney for RMB prepayment transaction and PAYPAL for USD prepayment transaction. QuickMoney is the most prevailing online payment system used in mainland China, noted for its safety and efficiency. Transaction can be processed between QuickMoney and debit cards or credit cards issued by most of the domestic commercial banks. PAYPAL is the most widely used online payment system in the world with a user pool of more than 10 million.

Q: How many countries can WTTS service be delivered to now?
A: WTTS service can be delivered to all the countries or regions showed in the telephone rate list.
